Opponents of the FCC's decision say consumers could pay more, as internet service providers gain the power to speed up or slow down traffic to certain online content.
Commissioner Mingon Clyburn wanted to keep net neutrality in place: "I don't know whether this plan will be vacated by a court, reversed by Congress, or overturned by a future commission."
Commissioner Michael O'Rielly argued the FCC is simply reverting back to way the internet ran two years ago: "This decision will not break the internet."
After a security scare, the FCC voted along partly lines to end net neutrality.
