RIO DE JANEIRO, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Filling in as the leader of Brazil's Local Organizing Committee, Ronaldo declared on Saturday that the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will be the biggest and best event of all times.
Ronaldo demonstrated his optimism towards the successfully hosting of the 2014 World Cup while welcoming FIFA president Joseph Blatter who came on an unofficial visit to re-establish communication between both parties.
Furthermore, the former athlete and reigning record holder for most goals scored during the World Cup (15 goals), promised soccer fans that the World Cup in Brazil will be the all-time largest and best event in soccer history.
Ronaldo acted as the president of the Local Organizing Committee while the Brazilian Confederation of Soccer's recently-named president Jose Maria Marin was traveling to Argentina.
In the meeting with Joseph Blatter, Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff consoled the FIFA president that the federal government will offer financial assistance to ensure that the World Cup is not only ready in time, but that the event will be a smashing success.
