BUENOS AIRES, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Argentine Juan Martin del Potro, 10th in the ATP ranking, won over Croatian 52nd-ranked Ivo Karlovic to tie their Davis Cup quarterfinal series 1-1 on Friday.

Del Potro, 2009 U.S. Open champion, won the match 6-2, 7-6 and 6-1 in two hours and 19 minutes at the Parque Roca clay court in southern Buenos Aires, capital city of Argentina.

Earlier, Croatian Marin Cilic who ranked 23rd, defeated Argentine 50th-ranked David Nalbadian 5-7, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 and 6-3.

On Saturday, the doubles will be played by Argentine Nalbadian and Eduardo Schwank against Cilic and Lovro Zovko at 1230 local time (1530 GMT).
