BAGHDAD, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed on Sunday and ten others wounded in several bombings in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and in eastern part of the country, the police said.
A suicide bomber blew up his explosive-laden car into an Iraqi army checkpoint in Abu Ghraib area, some 25 km west of Baghdad, leaving a soldier dead and eight others injured including five civilians, a local police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
In the meantime, a sticky bomb attached to a car detonated in Baghdad northern district of Kadhmiyah, leaving the driver dead, a well-placed source at Iraq's interior ministry source anonymously told Xinhua.
In a separate incident, a roadside bomb went off in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala near a parking lot in the city of Maqdadiyah, some 100 km northeast of Baghdad, leaving two civilians wounded, a provincial police source told Xinhua.
Furthermore, Iraqi security forces arrested three suspected al- Qaida militants at a village near the provincial capital city of Baquba, 65 km northeast of Baghdad, the source said.
The suspects are believed to be involved in many attacks against the Iraqi military patrols and civilians in Diyala province, the source added.
