NICOSIA, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The new Cypriot Minister of Finance Harris Georgiades and Minster of Labor Zeta Emilianidou were sworn in Wednesday during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace, in the presence of Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and members of the Cabinet.
After the ceremony, President Anastasiades said that he was pleased to welcome a woman at the Cabinet -- referring to Emilianidou, who becomes the first female member of the present administration, replacing Georgiades.
"Taking into account the difficult times for our country, I have no doubt that together with the rest of the Cabinet members, we will follow the program we had proclaimed," Anastasiades said.
He also noted that difficult days ahead demand collective action and consistency regarding fiscal discipline and all the measures that will lead to the economy's recovery.
Geogiades was appointed as finance minister after Michalis Sarris tendered his resignation on Tuesday.
Cyprus conluded a bailout deal amounting to 10 billion euros with the troika representing the European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund on Tuesday.
