BANGKOK, July 31 (Xinhua) -- A royally-endorsed list of 200 members of Thailand's National Legislative Assembly (NLA) was disclosed Thursday night.
The list was published in the Royal Gazette and announced on TV.
More than half of the 200 members are active and retired military officers in the armed forces, while the rest include former cabinet members, former government officials, former senators, as well as renowned academics.
The interim charter that came into effect earlier stipulates that the NLA, which is assigned with responsibilities of the House of Representatives and Senate, consist of up to 220 members.
There have been reports that 20 seats will be saved for suitable people to be appointed later.
The NLA is expected to convene its first meeting on Aug. 7.
According to the charter, the NLA will nominate an interim prime minister to be appointed by the king. The interim PM will select up to 35 cabinet members.
Junta chief Prayuth Chan-ocha has been tipped to double as the interim premier.
