PARIS, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- French President Francois Hollande on Monday vowed to maintain close ties with Greece's new anti-austerity government in a bid to boost growth and improve financial stability in the European bloc.

The French head of state expressed "willingness to carry on with close cooperation between two countries to promote growth and stability in the eurozone."

In a statement, Hollande also congratulated Alexis Tsipras, leader of the leftist party SYRIZA, on his victory in the general election.

On Sunday, the anti-austerity party garnered 36 percent of the vote, paving way for the the Leftists to lead the government -- the first in Greece since the end of World War II.

Speculations over Greece's exit from the single-currency bloc were raised as the anti-bailout party opposes Greece's bailout deal and strict budgetary rigor imposed by European partners.

However, Tsipras, in a speech to his supporters, dismissed the possibility of a Greek default and an exit from the eurozone.

The party leader also promised to axe the harsh terms of bailout deals struck with international lenders and renegotiate with them for a "fair, viable and mutually beneficial resolution."
