WASHINGTON, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Police were responding to a report of an active shooter at the Washington Navy Yard in southeast of the U.S. capital Thursday morning, U.S. media reported.

According to cnn, there are no immediate report of casualties inside the three-hectare military facility, which was were closed after the incident.

The U.S. Navy tweeted that the navy yard is under lockdown, but no details of the incident has been disclosed.

In 2013, a gunman who got into a building at the navy yard killed 12 people and injured three others. The gunman was fatally shot by a Washington Metropolitan police officer.
