BEIJING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- China will tighten quarantine measures against the Zika virus, authorities said on Thursday.

Those from the affected regions should declare themselves to the quarantine staff when entering into China, if they have suspect symptoms, such as fever, joint pain, rash, conjunctivitis, headache and muscle pain, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

Entry and exit quarantine areas should be equipped with test kits for Zika, it said.

Effective measures should be made to eliminate mosquitoes in vehicles and containers from the affected regions, it said.

Guangdong Province confirmed China's 10th confirmed Zika case on Tuesday. A 40-year-old man from Jiangmen City returned from Venezuela with his family on Feb. 25. His two children tested positive for the virus on Feb. 27, according to the Guangdong Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission.

The World Health Organization declared a global emergency in early February amid a Zika outbreak in Central and South America. China has also been on alert as experts warn the warming weather may facilitate the spread of the mosquito-borne virus.
