BERLIN, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Police have found explosive materials in Chemnitz of east Germany on Saturday morning after raiding a house in the area, German media Focus reported.
Police blocked a residential area in Chemnitz on Saturday morning after being tipped that a suspect was planning to launch an attack.
The suspect, now at large, is a Syrian refugee who arrived in Germany last year. He was thought to have planned and prepared for an explosive attack in a German airport, and has been under police surveillance for a long time.
The residential area police searched on Saturday was believed to be the suspect's hiding place.
The situation at the scene is "under control" and local residents are "calm", according to Saxony police's twitter update.
